    Description

Amazing original publication encouraging people to come settle in San Diego, copyright 1920 by the San Diego California Club. Also laid in the back is a 1923 letter from the Club to Mr Herbert A Moses, who apparently was planning to write a "sketch" on the growing San Diego area.
The brochure measures about 8 1/2"x 11 1/2", with 32 pages containing text and copious photos about early San Diego life, including sailing, the weather, North Island airplanes and the fleet, beaches, polo, fishing, Coronado Island, culture, Tent City, downtown (with the Hippodrome shown), shopping, Ramona's Marriage Place, the Inn at Del Mar, The Stadium, Balboa Park, and more. Very scarce, I cannot find any originals for sale currently or sold in the past on Worthpoint--only cheap modern reproductions. A beautiful early California tourism piece.
Condition: Cover with wear and chipping, spine splitting at base, tear on rear cover. Interior pages very good.
