    Description

Handmade wood box wrapped with leather trim and lined with green felt. There is also weaved bamboo attached to the box handle. There is a typed note on rice paper "TO CAPT. LEONARD FROM M. KANAYA", "TO Capt & Mrs. Leonard Merry Christmas and Happy New Year From All Japanese Employees".
Richard Keith Leonard was a Lt Col in the Army during the Army occupation of Japan following WWII. I believe he was stationed in Nagano.
